CEDAR Camp is a two week summer day camp offered every summer at UBC, and is always a great experience for everyone involved! Every year, Aboriginal students from all over metro Vancouver (and even further places, like Merit, Chase, and Skidigate) gather at the UBC campus for a fun-filled university experience. Each year we work hard to showcase as much of the campus’ resources as time allows.
We strongly encourage our students to stay involved over the long term, so every year we offer a new curriculum with new projects and activities!
The overarching theme of the camp is promotion of academics, and showing our students how much fun learning can be, and the opportunities that education provides.
CEDAR is run through the UBC First Nations House of Learning, which is located at 1986 West Mall. CEDAR 2012 will be on July 16th to July 27th from 9:30am to 3:30pm daily.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Aboriginal Heath Strategic Initiative of Vancouver Coastal Health, this year’s camp will focus on diabetes prevention. Implementing this focus will include nutritious traditional meals and recreational activities that encourage healthy bodies and minds.
